Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo First Impressions
Whilst in Sydney, our team members had the chance to jump onboard the new Malaysia Airlines Business Class product on the A330neo- and it did not disappoint!

Our Marketing Manager, Blake, and Marketing Coordinator, Anjelica, had the opportunity to check out the new Malaysia Airlines Business Class onboard the A330neo. This product is relatively new to the Australian market, with three daily flights from both Sydney and Melbourne, as well as regular services from Brisbane and Perth, with further expansion on the horizon. By February 2026, Malaysia Airlines will also operate the A330neo between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur route daily.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class is one of our most popular partner airlines for customers flying with Oman Air, Finnair or Turkish Airlines. This is due to the codeshare agreement between the airlines. Often, passengers will fly Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur and continue the rest of their journey to Europe with one of the other carriers mentioned.

Our team members caught a glimpse of the upgraded Business Class product whilst on an aircraft inspection in Sydney. Read more to see what they thought about the cabin!

Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo Cabin and Seat

Onboard the A330neo product, Malaysia Airlines Business Class travellers will enjoy a major improvement. Unlike the A330-300 product (an older model), which has an alternating layout of 1-2-1 and 2-2-2, the A330neo is set in a 1-2-1 layout for the whole cabin. One of the major differences is that the seats now have sliding privacy doors- something becoming more valuable in the Business Class market.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo Seat

We found the seat to be quite wide and similar to other Business Class products where the fully flat bed joins with the footwell to create a longer bed. More specifically, a similar seat design to the Air Canada 777-200LR or the Fiji Airways A350 Business Class products. With only 28 seats in the cabin, it feels spacious and private, with ample room for overhead storage. We liked how each seat was equipped with ambient lighting and wireless charging pads. Additionally, there were plenty of nooks and crannies for storing smaller items around your seat.

Although the tray table was of a standard size, we appreciated that it could fold in half then be stowed under the TV. Plus, there was plenty of table space on the sides of the seat which could be used for extra items.

On the seat we found a mattress topper, blanket, pillow, slippers and an amenity kit waiting for us. The amenity kit contains some Payot products (lotion, lip balm, face mist) as well as socks, eye mask and toothbrush, which is all located in a quality leather bag.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo Features

There are many new features onboard the improved Malaysia Airlines Business Class product. One of our favourites being the sliding doors for each seat, enhancing the privacy between passengers. The centre seats also had sliding dividers- great for solo passengers seated in the middle wanting to be undisturbed by the person next to them, or for couples wanting to be more connected with the divider pulled down.

Technology has also had a major upgrade. In front of you sat an impressive 17.3” ultra HD screen. We found it to be an ideal size in comparison to where you sit. The interface was clean and modern, plus had an adjoining remote in case you didn’t want to use the touchscreen.

The modern technology doesn't stop there; passengers also receive complimentary wifi (MHconnect) plus Bluetooth connectivity, meaning you can use your own headphones or earbuds while using the entertainment system. On top of wireless charging, you can use a universal AC outlet located near your footwell (which is easy to miss). A high-power 60w USB-C point and a Type A USB port are located in the upper compartment for easy access.

In terms of seat controls, there were three automatic buttons that you could choose for fully flat, lounging or completely upright. It’s nice having these preprogrammed for an easy switch. There was also a touchscreen pad next to it where you could adjust the recline and the positioning of the footrests. We like that you can customise the exact position of the seat and also the lighting from the small touchscreen.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo Summary

Overall, we think customers will love the new Malaysia Airlines Business Class A330neo seat. The improvements make it up to scratch with the latest products on the market. With privacy doors, wireless charging and an improved cabin layout, Blake and Anjelica were really impressed with this Business Class product. The fully flat bed was long and well-equipped for a medium-haul flight between Australia - Kuala Lumpur and beyond.

Although on this visit we were unable to dine onboard, we are looking forward to being able to fully review the product in the future!
