What Does this Mean for Qantas Frequent Flyers?
This development follows PAL’s recently announced closer relationships with oneworld members, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and Alaska Airlines - with the Qantas partnership allowing members to redeem their Qantas Points on PAL flights. These flights are set to become eligible for Qantas’ popular oneworld Classic Flight Reward. This allows members to combine flights across multiple oneworld airlines for a fixed points price – up to 365,800 Qantas Points (plus fees and taxes) for Business Class travel up to 15,000 miles.
For Australian members, PAL could see Manila could become a popular transit point between Australia, Asia, and North America. Once PAL has officially become a oneworld member airline, travellers can expect benefits across the alliance network beyond Qantas. For frequent flyers of other member airlines, this will include:
- Earn & redeem points/miles across all member airlines
- Access 700+ airport lounges globally
- Priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling
- Additional baggage allowances*
- Access to oneworld Priority benefits for elite members
Once they’ve officially joined, PAL will join the likes of Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Oman Air, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, and SriLankan Airlines.
