Malaysia Airlines A330neo Business Class Review
Learn more about the latest Malaysia Airlines Business Class product by reading our review.

Our airfare specialist, Michelle, flew ex-MEL to try the new A330neo product to Kuala Lumpur. Our Marketing team members previously toured the aircraft earlier in the year. Read more from them in the article here.

This product is relatively new to the Australian market, with three daily flights from both Sydney and Melbourne, as well as regular services from Brisbane and Perth, with further expansion on the horizon. By February 2026, Malaysia Airlines will also operate the A330neo between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur route daily.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class is one of our most popular partner airlines for customers flying with Oman Air, Finnair or Turkish Airlines. This is due to the codeshare agreement between the airlines. Often, passengers will fly Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur and continue the rest of their journey to Europe with one of the other carriers mentioned.

Cabin and Seat Layout

The cabin is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout with angled seats that face away from the aisle, giving each passenger direct aisle access and a decent sense of personal space. The seat converts into a fully flat bed- more of a recliner-style design-but I found it genuinely comfortable for sleeping.

The footwell does taper, though it didn’t bother me at all (I’m on the shorter side). Taller travellers, think 6'5" and up, may find the small space more noticeable. Storage, however, is where this seat falls a bit short. Having flown Business Class on Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Oman Air previously, the Neo’s storage options are definitely limited. Even as someone who doesn’t take much out of their bag mid-flight, I still found the side compartments and general personal space quite minimal.

My favourite element would have to be the sliding door- what a great touch. It adds a sense of privacy and noticeably reduces outside distractions, especially when trying to sleep. Being a modern aircraft, the entertainment screen was obviously excellent- sharp, responsive and very up-to-date. The movie selection isn’t huge, but it’s fine for medium-haul travel; not terrible, just nothing outstanding. Wireless charging at the seat was a convenient addition and kept my phone powered throughout the flight.

Dining and Service

The service on this Malaysia Airlines Business Class flight was professional, friendly and attentive. I found that the crew didn’t proactively go up and down the cabin with ‘offerings’, but any time I pressed the call button, they appeared instantly and were happy to help. The meal service began with Satay Skewers (both beef and chicken), paired with a Mixed Salad that was refreshing and tasty, albeit quite simple. For the main course, the Stuffed Chicken Supreme was a standout- juicy, full of flavour, and genuinely delicious. I only wished I’d been hungrier to finish it all. Dessert was a rich chocolate caramel mousse, rounding out a surprisingly impressive dining experience.

From the moment you board, the service feels warm and welcoming: hot towels and a choice of welcome drinks-including their signature hibiscus and lychee drink which definitely set the tone. Plus, I opted to have a glass (or two) of champagne before takeoff. Slippers were also provided, adding a nice touch of comfort.

Extras and Amenities

The complimentary Wi-Fi onboard was a great bonus - at times it worked seamlessly, and other times it dropped out, but overall it was a thoughtful addition to the experience. The amenity kit was also well curated, featuring lip balm, a light perfume, a refreshing facial mist, and a hydrating body and hand cream, along with the essentials like socks, an eye mask and a toothbrush. Overall, a nicely considered setup that added a touch of comfort to the journey.

Overall Impressions of Malaysia Airlines Business Class

Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo Business Class offers a modern, comfortable and well-rounded experience. It’s particularly impressive given its relatively recent introduction to the Australian market and compared to the older product. While the seat’s storage could be improved, the privacy door, comfortable flat bed and sleek entertainment system elevate the cabin noticeably. The warm service, quality dining and thoughtful extras like slippers, Wi-Fi and a well-stocked amenity kit all contribute to a genuinely enjoyable journey.

For travellers connecting through Kuala Lumpur en route to Europe- especially those flying onward with Oman Air, Finnair or Turkish Airlines-this product is a great choice.
