Finnair Business Class AirLounge Review 2025
We tried out this controversial product for the second time!

A Business Class seat that does not recline? One of our airfare consultants, Jim, tried the Finnair Business Class AirLounge A350 product for the second time to see if his opinion had changed from the previous year

If you’re travelling to Europe and want the most value out of your Business Class fare, Finnair is the way to go. They’re a leading member of the oneworld alliance, flying to 100+ destinations in over 35 countries across Asia, Europe and North America. Fly to/from Australia through both their oneworld and regional partnerships.

Jim decided to use a Mixed Class Fare, flying Economy with Singapore Airlines to Singapore, then the rest of the way Business Class with Finnair. A Mixed Class Fare provides flexibility within the budget, allowing you to spend some of the savings on better experiences and hotels. Talk to an airfare specialist for more information about a Mixed Class Fare.

Jim Waiting for His Finnair Flight

Finnair Business Class AirLounge Seat and Cabin Layout

After a seamless flight between Adelaide and Singapore, I was excited to experience the Finnair AirLounge to Amsterdam with a transit in Helsinki. The aircraft features a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration, ensuring every passenger has direct aisle access. I had booked the centre seats for my partner and I.

The seat offers a hard-fixed shell with no recline, yet it turns into a fully flat bed. The contoured shell offers a bigger seat space and a lot of privacy. The centre seats have also got a privacy divider, which is perfect if you’re travelling solo. Or, if you’re travelling with a partner, you can lower the divider.

On the Finnair AirLounge, you’ll find that the seat itself does not actually recline. Fear not, it still turns into a fully flat bed. The seats do not feature electronic controls, however, transform using a simple lever mechanism. I found that the lack of a recline function could sometimes be tricky when trying to get up from a fully flat position. However, the hard-shell design means it’s easier to pull yourself up.

Overall, I found the bed spacious and comfortable. Especially for someone like myself who is 6-feet tall, the AirLounge had ample room for a restful sleep on this long-haul flight.

Finnair Business Class AirLounge Storage/Amenities

On first arrival, we were provided with a welcome drink and some nuts to settle in. This was a great addition to the overall experience. I love how much space and storage is onboard this product. With two compartments, plus overhead bins, there’s lots of room to pop bags, phones, books and anything in between. I’d say that there is a lack of storage around the bottom of the seats for shoes, but I managed to find room elsewhere.

The Finnair Business Class AirLounge has an impressive amount of connectivity, including USB A, USB C, PC power and Wi-Fi. These are all useful to keep your laptop/phone charged or use a medical device like a CPAP. This information can be provided by our airfare specialists who can assist with finding the right Business Class product for your needs.

The Amenity Kit onboard is pretty basic, designed by Marimekko gives it a bonus though! Inside, I received an eye mask, dental kit and earplugs. Top tip- you can ask for extras like lip balm and moisturiser from the cabin crew.

Finnair Business Class AirLounge Dining and Service

Across all of the Finnair long-haul flights I was provided with 3 meals, all of which were fantastic. They do great portion sizes and the entrees accompany the mains really well. Onboard, I find that service is always great with Finnair. They don’t continually bother you and check in, which I find is the right balance of service and attention.

On my flight’s menu was sliced chicken breast served on glass noodles, plus tuna with black pepper and accompaniments. Keep in mind you don’t get a choice between the two entrees (cold plates) that they serve. These were great for an entree dish as they were fresh and light. For the main (warm plate) I opted for the pan-seared salmon fillet. It came with sauteed kale, pumpkin Farro, Shimeji mushrooms, topped with corn and tomato salsa. For dessert, you get a selection of cheeses, plus a choice of one dessert. I chose the blueberry cheesecake which was lovely with the fresh blueberries.

Before landing, we were all served a baked salmon and leek quiche with chicken sausage, plus the classic breakfast items like yoghurt and fresh fruits. A variety of snacks and drinks are available throughout the flight so you’ll never go hungry.

Finnair Business Class AirLounge Breakfast

In terms of beverages, it was great to see a brand new wine list from the start of April featuring the Raspberry Dessert wine- a real treat after dinner! There is a range of champagnes, whites, reds and dessert wines available. Plus spirits, cocktails and beers alongside non-alcoholic drinks like mocktails, coffee, tea and soft drinks. My personal favourites were the signature Blueberry Juice and the Northern Blush Cocktail- both wonderful. On top of this, the Iittala glassware gives a very Finnish element to your dining experience.

Finnair Business Class AirLounge Final Impressions

Overall, my experience on the Finnair Business Class AirLounge onboard the A350 was excellent. The comfort and space of the seat, combined with the privacy make for a standout Business Class experience. Paired with delicious dining and friendly service, I was really happy flying on the AirLounge for the second time.

I would have liked to see a bit more storage towards the bottom for my shoes. Plus, I can see why there is a slight divide surrounding the concept of the seat. The lack of a reclining seat can be tricky for some passengers who have mobility issues- so make sure to chat to an airfare specialist about the best products for your needs.

Being one of the more affordable Business Class products, I truly love this Finnair AirLounge. Make sure to check out our Finnair Business Class deal to Europe, and let out airfare specialists book it in for you.
