ANA Announces New Non-Recline Business Class Seat
ANA's latest Business Class seats are expected to enter the skies in 2026 on their Boeing 787 aircraft.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced its latest Business Class suites for its Boeing 787 aircraft. These all-new suites are expected to enter the skies in 2026.

For more information on the ANA Business Class offerings as well as the pricing options available, visit the ANA deal page. You can currently fly Business Class with ANA from $4,776 when flying Perth to Tokyo.

ANA’s The Room FX

Said to be a considerable upgrade from the current 787 long-range Business Class seats, these new suites are titled The Room FX (which stands for Future Experience). These seats are spacious and said to be “the world’s largest in its class on a mid-sized aircraft”, according to the ANA team. The seat will be an impressive 27 inches at the waist with a maximum width of about 41.5 inches.

These seats are different from anything ANA have done before… why? With The Room FX, ANA joins Finnair’s AirLounge in the controversial ranks of Business Class seats with no recline. That’s right, this sofa-style suite has no recline - if you would also like to read our thoughts on the AirLounge, read our review here. The Room FX’s backrest is said to be pre-reclined so as to allow passengers to settle into various positions as though they were lounging on a living room sofa. The seat’s leg rest is adjustable and turns the seat into a single 76.5-inch flat bed for bedtime.

ANA’s Future Plans

“This seat represents our commitment to exceeding expectations and shaping the future of luxury flight,” says Tomoji Ishii, ANA's Executive Vice President of Customer Experience.

The Boeing 787s will host 48 The Room FX suites. Each is equipped with sliding privacy doors and placed in an alternating layout with half of the suites faced backwards and every other row faced forwards. Each suite will include a 24-inch screen and boast Bluetooth audio streaming, wireless charging, as well as AC, USB, and USB-C.

“This design optimises the Boeing 787’s cabin, creating a spatial experience comparable to a larger aircraft and achieving a world-class comfort level,” added Ishii.
