United Airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER Hong Kong to San Francisco service,  featuring the highly anticipated Polaris Business Class, launched this week, the first international route for the aircraft.

Each seat features mood lighting, one touch lumbar support, multiple storage areas, individual work and dining surface areas, and a 16 inch high definition screen.

The seat converts to a 6 foot 6 fully flat bed and an illuminated ‘do not disturb’ sign can be activated on the outside of the pod - part of the Polaris sleep focussed service philosophy.

Polaris ticket holders will have access to (yet to be opened) Polaris Only Lounges, with high quality food options available prior to boarding, encouraging passengers to dedicate their time onboard to sleeping.

Further enhancing the sleep experience (United are aiming to provide the best sleep in the sky), luxury bedding is provided by Saks 5th Avenue, pyjamas are available on long haul flights, slippers, gel cooled pillows, calming lavender pillow mist, and amenity kits from Soho House & Co.’s Cowshed Spa are available on all flights.

For passengers not wishing to sleep, inflight dining is provided in partnership with The Trotter Project along with an upgraded wine List and a dessert cart featuring made-to-order signature ice cream.

Polaris is coming as standard on all of United’s new B777-300’s and is expected to be retrofitted to the airline’s 767-300’s, 777-200 and Dreamliners. Eight Polaris lounges are expected to open this year, five in the US plus Tokyo Narita, Hong Kong, and London Heathrow.  It's anticipated the process process wil take some time ... Fingers crossed we see it grace the shores of Australia before too long!
