Wed, 06 Sep 2023

Hawaiian Airlines has begun selling tickets for flights on its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, set to be delivered in January 2024. The airline will begin to introduce the aircraft on selected flights to Los Angeles starting on 14 May, while beginning even early between San Francisco and Honolulu on 15 April. The airline has ordered 12 787-9 aircrafts, with deliveries scheduled through to 2027. It was expected that the new aircraft would join the fleet earlier, but manufacturing issues and delays throughout the pandemic pushed delivery timelines.

“We are eager to get out and in service in the early part of next year” chief executive Peter Ingram told FlightGlobal last month. “We expect to have four by the early part of 2025.”

This expansion of the fleet shows the growth for the airline along with the start of replacement for the A330-200 aircraft. Although they will eventually be replaced, Hawaiian Airlines intends to operate both aircraft in parallel for some period of time. With currently 24 carriers being operated for its long-haul operations to the US mainland, along with Asia, Australia and other destinations in the South Pacific, this expansion will continue to fuel the growth.

The paired Cabana Suites in the middle of each business class row offer more privacy for those celebrating a holiday or specialist occasion while they’re visiting the island. If you are travelling as a couple there are two buttons that can be pushed simultaneously to fully lower flat. Alternatively, if a traveller is by themselves, they can put up the divider.
