Emirates have announced a $2billion investment into enhancing in-flight experience

Emirates have announced they are investing over $2billion to enhance their passengers in-flight experience. With other airlines making cost-cutting decisions, Emirates are focussing on their brand promise to ‘fly better’ and committing to take customer experiences to the next level.

The majority of the investment will be in the upgrading of all cabin classes with Emirates retrofitting over 120 aircraft with the latest interiors. The first aircraft is scheduled to enter the Emirates Engineering Centre in November 2022. With a record-breaking refurbishment of the aircraft fleet interior, they will be fitted with new or reupholstered seats, new panelling, flooring and other cabin features. After the upgrade, Emirates will have a total of 120 aircraft offering Premium Economy, the only airline in the region to offer this service.

Premium Economy is currently available on six of the airlines A380’s, operating on routes between Dubai to Sydney, London and Paris. The seats are designed as an upgrade on the economy service with a 2-4-2 layout and a seat pitch of up to 40 inches. Passengers will have the opportunity to dine on a rotating menu served on Royal Doulton china. A continued rollout of the Premium Economy seating will eventually feature on over 120 A380’s and B777’s.

Already implemented on select routes in First Class, an award winning team of chefs have designed a new menu to deliver the best fine dining in the sky. To set a new standard of service excellence, customers in First Class will also now be able to enjoy unlimited portions of Persian caviar as part of the ‘dine on demand’ service along with a pairing of Dom Perignon vintage Champagne with Emirates being the only airline with an exclusive agreement to offer the luxury on board. Business and Economy class will have access to a newly designed menu from September 1.

As part of the menu for all classes is a wider selection of purposefully created vegan choices to satisfy the growing request for healthy plant based gourmet meals including pan-roasted king oyster mushrooms, jackfruit biryani and sliced kohlrabi with burnt orange, chocolate truffle cake with hazelnut and pistachio, or green grape tarte with candied rose petals.

Emirates Flight Catering have previously announced the opening of the world’s largest vertical farm producing more than 1 million kg of leafy greens and as part of their continued effort in sustainable operations, all flights departing Dubai will now deliver produce grown and harvested in the farm to serve the freshest produce on board.

Another perk to set First Class apart from the competition is the introduction of cinema snacks ordered on demand. Enjoy over 5000 channels on Emirates ICE inflight entertainment system while devouring lobster rolls, juice sliders, edamame and salted popcorn.

Emirates will further their in-flight experience by providing specialised hospitality training for all cabin crew with the world’s top hospitality management school, École hôtelière de Lausanne. Through intensive training, the program aims to support cabin crew to encourage and inspire exceptional customer experiences.

The new upgrades and refurbishments are sure to enhance an already superior experience on board when travelling in any cabin class with Emirates. In further exciting news, Emirates have announced this isn’t the last of the enhancements, with more products and services to be announced in the future.
