Air France Adds Wine Cellar

Mon, 27 May 2019

This month Air France launched the Air France Wine Cellar, offering everyone the opportunity to enjoy the best wines, Champagnes and spirits served on board its flights in the lounges at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly.

The exclusive wine selection, which is updated every two months is signed off by Paolo Basso, one of the world’s best sommeliers and Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane and can be enjoyed in all of the cabin classes during the flight. Some of the wines being served include Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2007, Bordeaux Saint-Julien Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2014, and Whisky Bellevoye.

All wines and spirits are chosen for their capacity to adapt to the constraints linked with the environment of air travel, in particular, the dry air and cabin pressure, which can modify how tastes are perceived.

Every year Air France serves 800,000 bottles of wine in La Premiere and Business class, 750,000 bottles of champagne in Economy class and are regularly awarded for the quality of what is on offer. Most recently in February 2019, Air France was awarded the prestigious Business Traveller’s Cellars in the Sky Awards.
