As of July 2, 2025, Oman Air officially joined the oneworld alliance, enhancing travel options for frequent flyers. But what does that really mean for you?
This development introduces reciprocal frequent flyer benefits across several member airlines but for our avid Qantas frequent flyers it does mean waiting until at least November 2025.
Currently, Qantas are in the midst of a shake up with their own frequent flyer program which has delayed the chance for Qantas frequent flyers to earn any status credits or points on Oman Air operated flights. Thankfully, this doesn’t affect their existing partnerships with other oneworld member airlines including Finnair, Japan Airlines and British Airways to name a few.
However, whilst you are travelling you will still enjoy all the usual benefits such as lounge access and priority check-in and boarding according to your oneworld status, the current delay only impacts your ability to earn points and status credits.
In the meantime, if you do have another membership within the oneworld group, we would recommend aligning this with any current Oman Air bookings until Qantas successfully switch on their full agreement and reciprocal benefits with Oman Air. If you're looking to travel to Europe in the next few months, we'd suggest accruing with Qatar Airways or Cathay Pacific instead.
For a better understanding of what is possible, Oman Air have released a table outlined below with the status of each airline's frequent flyer program. Full details and eligibility as per individual carrier FFP programs, clients are advised to check details with one of our airfare specialists.
