What makes Turkish Airlines an Awards-Worthy Business Class Contender

Looking for an airline that hits all the marks? Find out why Turkish Airlines Business Class is so great

There are plenty of airlines that can deliver a great Business Class flight. Far fewer manage to make the entire journey feel genuinely worth travelling for. Turkish Airlines sits firmly in that second category. It combines a strong Business Class product with excellent food, genuinely warm service, an enormous network and, importantly for Australian travellers, some very competitive fares to Europe. That combination is exactly why we ranked Turkish Airlines number 2 in our Flat Beds Best Business Class Awards 2026. It wasn't a decision based on one flashy seat or a particularly impressive lounge. In fact, like all airlines, it has some inconsistencies, but it was the strength of the overall Turkish Airlines Business Class experience that pushed it so high.

Why Turkish Airlines Business Class is one of the World's Best

Our awards are deliberately a little different from many global airline rankings. We focus on the things that actually matter when you’re spending a significant amount of money on Business Class: the seat, value, service, consistency, frequent-flyer benefits, reliability, meals and the airport experience.

The seat carries the greatest weighting, followed by value, service and consistency. Turkish Airlines performed exceptionally well across many of these areas. The Skytrax World’s Best Business Class Airlines 2026 ranking places Turkish Airlines at number 6. However, we believe the airline deserves to sit a little higher. That’s the logic behind ranking Turkish Airlines at number 2 in our Flat Beds Best Business Class Awards 2026.

Turkish Airlines also enjoyed a trio of major successes at the Skytrax awards, taking the titles of Best Airline in Europe, World’s Best Business Class Catering and Best Airline in Southern Europe. And while the power of Qatar Airways remains difficult to match, Turkish Airlines continues to demonstrate its global standing, ranking number 5 in Skytrax's World’s Top 20 Airlines.

Perhaps Turkish Airlines’ biggest advantage is that it doesn’t rely on just one selling point, as some airlines do. We believe it has far more to offer our customers. On some airlines, you might find a comfortable seat, but if the food is forgettable, the service inconsistent and the fare outrageous, it becomes difficult to call an airline truly great, let alone enjoyable. Turkish Airlines doesn’t fall into that category. Its award-winning cuisine, consistently strong customer service, highly competitive fares and enormous global network all contribute to the airline’s overall success. It is this combination of strengths that makes Turkish Airlines our stand out. Rather than excelling in just one area, it delivers a great Business Class product that offers genuine value from the moment you book until you reach your destination. Istanbul is perfectly positioned between Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Turkish Airlines has built a great network around it, with the airline visiting over 300 destinations. As a Star Alliance member, Turkish Airlines Business Class is a great option for value-conscious Australian travellers heading to Europe, which makes Istanbul a particularly useful hub and gateway city.

Turkish Airlines was second after Oman Air for Value in our Best Business Class Awards, with consistently competitive fares across a wide range of European destinations. Its newer Melbourne and Sydney services have also been particularly well received, with the A350 offering a strong Business Class product on select routes. That combination of price, network and product is difficult to ignore.

The Turkish Airlines Business Class experience

We've flown Turkish Airlines Business Class across different aircrafts, and that experience is important because not every Turkish Airlines Business Class seat is the same. The newer A350 Business Class is the standout. Its 1-2-1 configuration gives every passenger direct aisle access, while the staggered layout creates a good balance between personal space and privacy. The seat converts into a fully flat bed, which becomes particularly important when you're travelling the long distance between Australia and Europe. This particular seat is not on all Turkish Airlines Business Class flights, therefore, we suggest getting in touch with an Airfare Specialist who can tailor your itinerary accordingly.

In our A350 review, we particularly liked the ability to control the seat all the way from upright to completely flat. The seat also has useful storage, such as a universal plug socket, charging ports and a lockable compartment for valuables. It's a practical Business Class seat rather than one that sacrifices functionality in the pursuit of aesthetics. The older 777-300ER is a different proposition. Its 2-3-2 Business Class layout means not everyone gets direct aisle access, something that inevitably costs Turkish Airlines points for consistency in our rankings. However, it still offers a spacious cabin and a fully flat bed, meaning it remains perfectly respectable for short/medium-haul Business Class flights.

Where Turkish Airlines Shines: Food and Hospitality

If there's one part of the Turkish Airlines experience that consistently stands out, it's the food. The airline's Flying Chef concept gives its long-haul Business Class service something different. On our A350 review, the chef personally came through the cabin, took preferences, and even accommodated a different meal time. That flexibility made the meal service feel less like a scheduled production and more like part of the hospitality. We also loved the opportunity to try a range of Turkish dishes alongside international options. The presentation, variety and overall quality of the dining experience helped Turkish Airlines score strongly in our Service & Meals category. In fact, Turkish Airlines finished second for Best Business Class Meals in the Flatbeds 2026 Awards, behind leading contender Qatar Airways. It also placed fourth for Business Class Service due to the airline's overall warmth and accommodation, which are details we like to highlight when assessing a Business Class product. On a long-haul flight, these standards are imperative for the quality of the journey.

Istanbul is Part of the Experience

The journey doesn't end when you leave the aircraft. Turkish Airlines' Istanbul hub is another major strength, particularly for Business Class travellers connecting between Australia and Europe. The flagship Turkish Airlines Business Lounge is enormous. Within the 5,600-square-metre, 24/7 luxury facility, you can find chef-prepared food, traditional Turkish dishes, quieter seating areas and features including a flight simulator, relaxation rooms, a play area for little travellers, as well as dedicated workspaces.

For travellers with stopover concerns, Turkish Airlines relieves that pressure with its Complimentary Stopover Program. The program offers passengers who are connecting via Istanbul Airport the opportunity to explore and enrich their travels by discovering the city’s history and cultural life with a stopover in Istanbul- and enjoy free accommodation in the airline’s partner hotels! Economy Class passengers are entitled to 1 night in a 4-star hotel, and Business Class passengers are entitled to 2 nights in a 5-star boutique hotel. This shows Turkish Airlines’ true dedication to fostering an unforgettable experience for their customers; it highlights that their hospitality and care extend past their aircraft.

Why Turkish Airlines Earned Silver

So why did Turkish Airlines finish second rather than first? The answer is consistency. Qatar Airways ultimately took Gold, with its impressive Qsuite product continuing to set the benchmark for Business Class seating. Turkish Airlines' fleet variation, particularly the older 777-300ER, prevented it from matching that level. However, Turkish Airlines made up for that with exceptional value, an excellent dining experience, strong service, a huge network and a genuinely compelling overall experience. In fact, Turkish Airlines scored number 5 on this year's official World’s Top Airlines Awards 2026 by Skytrax, ahead of many of the industry's biggest names, such as Emirates falling behind Turkish Airlines with 6th place on the list! What a fantastic achievement by Turkish Airlines. The airline was also ranked as **Most Popular Airline (By Sales Volume) **in our Flat Beds Best Business Class Awards 2026, which tells us that travellers aren't just interested in Turkish Airlines -they're actively choosing it. For us, that's what makes the Silver position so deserved.

Turkish Airlines Business Class isn't necessarily the flashiest product in the sky. However, It's something arguably more useful: a compelling way to travel. When you combine a flat bed on the right aircraft, excellent Turkish and international cuisine, warm hospitality, an enormous global network and some of the best fares to Europe, it's easy to understand why so many Australian travellers are choosing Turkish Airlines- it’s why we have, and will continue to choose the airline.
