Qantas will begin direct flights between Melbourne and Honolulu from May 2025 to continue connectivity between the two destinations. This will complement its popular Sydney-Honolulu route and boost the overall number of red-tailed jets flying between Australia and the USA.
The Route
It comes with Jetstar ending its own twice-weekly Melbourne-Honolulu service from 30 April 2025. This is to make way for the Qantas flights, with the Boeing 787 set to move onto another long-range route.
Qantas’ new Melbourne-Honolulu A330 flights will run every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from early May 2025, with Business Class available on all journeys.
- QF105 will depart Melbourne at 5.05pm, touching down in Honolulu at 7.40am
- QF106 will leave Honolulu at 9.40am to reach Melbourne at 5.15pm
Starter Business Class fares from Melbourne to Honolulu on Qantas will start from $5,699.
If you would prefer to use Qantas Points for the tropical holiday, the airline says its Classic Plus reward seats will be available for 297,300 points (plus $1,240) for Business Class return.
Qantas Business Class
Passengers will find that this is definitely an upgrade, with Qantas offering fully flat beds in Business Class compared to a Premium Economy like experience with Jetstar.
Onboard Qantas Business Class you will find a 1-2-1 layout with a total of 28 seats. Guests will have priority check-in and be provided with a European pillow, cotton duvet and amenity kit once onboard - a perfect addition to the fully flat bed.
The seat itself combines functionality with privacy and space, alongside reclining to a fully flat bed. Business Class passengers will enjoy Neil Perry inspired small and main plates alongside a full formal dining offering served on David Caon tableware.
By the time these flights take off in May 2025, Qantas is expecting that all A330s should have fast, free WiFi to keep passengers connected on the 10-hour journey.
From the Airline
“Our new service ensures continued connectivity for Melbournians to Hawaii, while enabling Jetstar to redeploy its 787 aircraft to other destinations and long-haul routes,” explains Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace.
