An Elevated Experience

The improved Polaris suites were officially announced earlier this week in New York. They’re expected to arrive with the 150 newly constructed Boeing 787-9s - the first of which is expected to arrive late 2025. United have shared that the all-new Polaris suites will debut on flights to Singapore and London, with Australia set to follow as more aircrafts are constructed. All 30 of the future Boeing 787s are expected to join the Star Alliance member’s fleet by 2027 with the latest United Polaris Studio suites.

The new aircrafts will house 64 Polaris Business Class suites in total. This is a significant increase from the current Boeing 787’s 38 suites. To make room for these new suites, the airline has decreased the size of its Economy cabin down to 123 seats.

“We never stand still and are always looking for more ways to set ourselves apart from other carriers,” says United’s Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella.

United’s Innovative Business Class

United Airlines is committed to innovation. They’ve split the Polaris suites into two separate cabins with 32 suites in each. One will have middle seats face the aisle, the other will have the middle seats face inwards, toward nearby seats. This will provide passengers with more options when flying solo or with partners.

The Standard Polaris Business Class suites will also include sliding privacy doors as well as walls to cocoon passengers. Each of the Standard suites is accompanied by 19-inch 4K OLED touchscreens. Both the Standard and Studio suites will include USB-C / A, as well as wireless charging - luxury skincare, exclusive caviar, and other amenities are also provided.

“We’re confident this elevated experience will take international flying to new heights,” added Nocella.

Positioned in the first row of each Business Class section, the Polaris Studio suites are much larger than the Standard Polaris suites. They will even include an extra ottoman seat for company. These Studios will include an impressive 27-inch 4K OLED screen and Meridian noise-cancelling headphones. The elevated 787 will also allow for Bluetooth audio streaming to personal headphones.

The airline will also introduce new mid-flight meal options, such as a regionally influenced tapas service. Polaris Studio passengers will exclusively be offered a pairing of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne and an amuse-bouche of Ossetra caviar.
