What Will These Flights Look Like?

LATAM’s new Australian flights will commence in November 2025. Sydney will see its current three times weekly Santigao flights updated to a daily service. In December 2025, Melbourne will follow with their own daily flights - which marks the city’s first-ever non-stop flights to South America.

These flights are available now with extra capacity available until March 2026 to coincide with South America’s peak travel season.

“LATAM is South America’s largest carrier, and this will mark the first time that Melbourne has had a daily, non-stop connection to the continent, which is incredibly exciting,” said Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus.

The services will be operated on Boeing 787-9 and 787-8 Dreamliners. These aircrafts feature Business Class and Economy cabins, which include auto-dimming windows, mood lighting, and more. Business passengers will enjoy an 18-inch touch screen as well as noise-cancelling headphones.

Why The New Flights?

The expansion is in response to a growing demand from both Australians and corporate travellers. LATAM reported a 12% rise in Australian bookings to South America since January 2025. The increased services are a huge development for Australian travellers as they provide them with significantly more options when visiting South America. Giving travellers access to the airline’s South American network of 153 destinations across 27 countries.

“By offering daily departures from both Sydney and Melbourne, we’re giving our customers more flexibility, choice and convenience – whether they’re heading off on holiday or travelling for business,” said LATAM Airlines Group General Manager EMEA, Asia and South Pacific Thibaud Morand.
