First Look: Qantas Business Class Lounge Adelaide
We checked out the new Qantas Business Class Lounge that just opened up at Adelaide Airport.

We were able to get a sneak peek at the new Qantas Business Class Lounge that just opened up at Adelaide Airport. In fact, it’s Adelaide’s first-ever Domestic Business Lounge.

Travellers flying Qantas Business Class or Platinum-grade frequent flyers leaving Adelaide can finally enjoy their own space. Our Managing Director, Mark, and our Marketing Coordinator, Anjelica, had the opportunity to take a first look at the lounge before it opened its doors.

At the launch, it was announced that Qantas will be flying a new route between Adelaide and Auckland. This fantastic development offers South Australian travellers greater options across the airline’s international network. Beneficial to travellers who would like to take advantage of Qantas’ connections through to North America via New Zealand and their highly popular service from Auckland to New York. Read more here.

Qantas Business Class Lounge Adelaide Layout and Seating

On arrival, we noticed the warm ambiance of the lounge immediately. With natural tones, locally made furniture and elegant lighting featured throughout, the space was really beautiful.

The open-plan space features an oversized circular bar that acts as a centrepiece for the lounge. This space has high stools for the bar and an extensive laid-back cushioned bench, preferred by solo travellers or couples. You’ll also find multiple tables in front of the bar for extra high-top seating. These are work benches, equipped with USB-A, USB-C power outlets and the standard Australian power socket. Thus, making it ideal for the working Business Class traveller.

Opposite the bar, couches and cushioned chairs line the walls. Next to it is another lined group of comfortable, padded chairs- ideal for the solo traveller. These are equipped with power outlets if you’re looking to work or just charge your devices in a more casual setting.

Alongside walls and large windows are even more seating options. These are grouped into chairs of four, making it perfect for families travelling together. These spaces felt like their own small private nooks as they were a good distance away from each other and had dividers between each group. Almost spanning from floor to ceiling, the windows offer great tarmac views and natural lighting throughout the day. The seating reflected Qantas’ classic modern and minimalistic design it uses throughout most of its lounges and in their First and Business Class cabins.

Qantas Business Class Lounge Adelaide Dining

As expected, dining at this lounge showcases South Australian food and wine at its best.

The Market Kitchen is the signature dining experience in this lounge. Taking inspiration from our own Adelaide Central Markets, it will showcase food from our local area with local celeb chef Maggie Beer to join forces with Neil Perry. A live cooking station will feature a very South Australian dish- the classic Pie Floater. Essentially, a meat pie sitting in a thick pea soup with gravy. Staff were serving lamb cutlets, a roast vegetable paella and other canapes throughout the night. Our guess is that a range of these items will be on the menu for Business Class travellers. We were treated to a range of antipasto, featuring cold cuts, cheeses, olives, bread and anchovies.

There’s barista coffee being made to order, so you’re sure to get your morning fix! On opening night, we were treated to an open-bar with cocktails and a list of wines from the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and Adelaide Hills. Plus a great selection of non-alcholic drinks, featuring local legend Maggie Beer’s sparking ruby cabernet.

Qantas Business Class Lounge Adelaide Amenities

We had a quick glimpse of the showers and bathroom facilities within the lounge. The design continued into the showers, with red tiling reflecting both the kitchen and Qantas in general. An LED mirror fronted the room and a long countertop with plenty of space was a great feature to see. The actual shower was separated by a divider- not only is this an additional element of privacy but acts as an elevated bathroom splashback. Travellers will have access to Li'Tya amenities and fresh towels.

With a capacity of almost 200 travellers, the design behind the lounge takes inspiration from Kangaroo Island’s Flinders Chase National Park. Like its neighbouring Qantas Club, this lounge is all about taking local inspiration and giving the lounge a unique design.
