Every two years the aviation industries are invited to Farnborough for the world’s best airshow. This year saw a few new business class announcements and a huge number of new plane orders for major producers Boeing and Airbus.

Every two years the aviation industries are invited to Farnborough for the world’s best airshow. Since 1948 the Farnborough International Airshow has set the stage for many significant announcements, providing a glimpse into the future of aviation.

Qatar Announce New Business Class

Qatar Airways took the opportunity to introduce its latest innovation: Qsuite Next Generation. This latest iteration of the award-winning Qatar Airways Qsuite brings the World’s Best Business Class in commercial aviation to new heights. The new Qsuite Next Gen includes new and enhanced features, including fully customisable Quad Suites, Companion Suites in window aisle; 4K OLED manoeuvrable in flight entertainment screens and includes space and privacy in each suite.

Building on the Qsuite's reputation for offering the industry's first-ever double bed in business class, the Next Gen Qsuite offers larger lie-flat and double beds. Turkish Airlines Unveils New Crystal Business Class Suite

Turkish Airlines also chose to launch their new business class, The Crystal Business Class Suite at the Farnborough International Airshow this week. The new designs combine elements that are unique to the brand and taking into account feedback from the passengers. With plans for the new business class seat to be fitted on the carriers transcontinental flights, installed on the airline’s A350 Airbus order from 2026. They will also be retrofitted on its fleet of 33 Boeing 777 aircraft. When the 777s are reconfigured, the size of the business class cabin is expected to be reduced from 49 seats to 44 seats.

The Crystal Cabin offers a blend of modern design and privacy, each business class seat offers direct aisle access, with window seats having full visibility. To add to this, each will be equipped with a suite door, adjustable privacy panel for the middle seats, marble-look cocktail table with wireless charging, ambient and reading lights, universal and type C outlets, noise-cancelling headphone jack, adjustable personal mirror, closed stowage area and a 22inch IFE screen.

Japan Airlines Order in Big

Earlier this year Japan Airlines announced that it would introduce new aircraft as part of an ongoing effort to renew its fleet. The airline confirmed this at the airshow ordering 21 A350-900 and 11 A321neo with plans to add ten Boeing 787-9s to its operations. The senior vice president of procurement for Japan Airlines said they are excited about the addition of the new planes stating the A350-900 has become a customer’s favourite on domestic routes for it’s wide and spacious cabin for passengers comfort. The airline plans to replace their old 767-300ER aircraft with the new A321neo. Japan Airlines and Airbus expect delivery of the A350-900s and A321neos between 2028 and 2023 with plans to fly the A350-900 on both domestic and international routes.
