Emirates Check In, Boarding and Welcome

After spending some time in the Emirates Business Class Lounge in Milano Malpensa, Emirates offered direct boarding from the lounge onto the aircraft which was very convenient. The staff were friendly both in the lounge and boarding the A380 where we were greeted by the smiling and helpful crew who directed us to our seats. We were offered Veuve Champagne which we were more than happy to enjoy prior to the afternoon take-off.

Emirates Business Class Seat Comfort, Recline & Bedding

We had chosen seats 11E and 11F as they were in the middle of the 1-2-1 cabin configuration and were next to each other divided only by a privacy screen that we could move up or down. The seats in front and behind us are a slightly different configuration where the seats are closer to the aisle so you aren’t as close to the person next to you. So for couples, we’d highly recommend choosing odd number rows in advance.

Emirates A380-800 Business Class Seat

The seats onboard the Emirates A380 Business Class were one of the best we’ve experienced, although a touch narrower than other airlines when they were fully flat to sleep. There were lots of features from the entertainment screen, to the recline buttons, to the charging options and the only thing lacking was some storage. The seat has its own little bar with a few drink options and snacks which was a convenient feature. After take-off the crew offered us seat toppers which added an extra cushion to the seat which was great for the long flight.

The seat was adjustable to find the right position for watching movies as well as meal service - it even has a forward and back feature to get closer to your table which was very useful. When it was time to sleep, the seat reclined to fully flat bed for a comfortable sleep through to Dubai. The mattress felt cosy although the pillow was a little small compared to other airlines. On this Emirates A380 Business Class flight we weren’t offered pyjamas or amenities based on it being an afternoon flight under 7 hours so most people didn’t have a sleep like the brief one we had.

Emirates Business Class Entertainment Experience

The entertainment screen was a massive 23 inch and had a large selection of movies, TV shows, games and even live world cup matches. It was easy to navigate via the touch screen or by using the mini ipad to my left (near the mini bar and snacks). As we took off, I watched the cameras at the front and back of the plane which was interesting to see parts of Milan from a different point of view. We both happily watched some movies on the large screen using the excellent noise cancelling headphones and then I snuck in part of a world cup match. The Emirates A380 Business Class entertainment unit is one of the best set-ups we’ve experienced.

Emirates Business Class Dining and Meal Service

We were provided a menu soon after take-off with our Milan to Dubai flight serving lunch a little while after take-off. We weren’t that hungry after eating in the lounge so ended up sharing an appetiser and main course between us. We chose the creamy green pea soup with mint and the grilled beef steak. The meals came with a side salad and bread and were well presented and tasted delicious. We were offered dessert but decided to skip that, although they still brought us some luxury chocolates which ended the meal service nicely.

There was an extensive drinks menu including French Champagne to juices, soft drinks, mocktails, coffee, tea, vitality boost drinks, cocktails, beers, non-alcoholic beers, wine, spirits and liqueurs. Basically anything you wanted and whenever you wanted it.

Menu

Throughout the remainder of the flight there were light bites available in the Onboard Lounge. This ranged from options such as fancy sandwiches, seasonal fruit, chocolate bundt cake, mini pastries or even an affogato. The space was a nice place to hang away from your seat with bar service too.

Onboard Lounge Emirates A380-800

The Emirates A380-800 flight from Milan to Dubai was a smooth and enjoyable 6.5 hour flight. The Business Class seat, entertainment and food service were above expectations and proves why Emirates is one of the leading global airlines with their business class product. The staff were friendly and attentive and the added bonus of the Onboard Lounge was a nice touch to be able to relax away from your seat.
