ANA Business Class The Room Review
Did it live up to the hype? Learn more about The Room product here.

Airfare consultant, Hannah, recently flew with All Nippon Airways (ANA) on their B777-300 aircraft. It features the very popular ‘The Room’ product, so Hannah was excited to test it out. The Room is only available on select routes between Tokyo - North America and Tokyo - Europe.

From Australia, fly to Japan,North America or Europe with ANA. Although these routes are operated by the 787 Dreamliner, passengers will enjoy a 1-2-1 layout and direct aisle access. See our All Nippon Airways offers here, or chat to an Airfare Specialist to learn more.

ANA Business Class Cabin Layout and Seats

Upon arrival, I found that the cabin felt really quiet and spacious. The Room style seat is like your own mini studio complete with sliding privacy doors. It’s set in a 1-2-1 configuration and Business Class is split into 3 areas. First, with a 'mini' cabin with two rows at the front, the main cabin, and then a 4 row cabin behind.

My husband and I sat in the two row cabin in 5E and 5F which was really private and comfortable. It had plenty of storage and there was a little personal cupboard with a mirror. The seat itself was bigger than the Dreamliner seat with an additional cushioned area at the side. It felt more like a big armchair and I was able to put my legs up beside me like I was on my couch at home.

Our seats were the rear facing 'married' seats and other than take off or landing, it was impossible to tell we were facing backwards. There was a movable divider so we could chat easily, but then get some privacy when needed.

ANA Business Class Dining

The dining service was the same as a previous ANA flight I had taken on the Dreamliner. Any time a month or two before you fly, you can select the Japanese menu or the International menu. Both were very good but it was somewhat limiting that you could not pick an entree from one and a main from another for example. On this flight I pre-selected the International Meal. This included an appetiser of Smoked Salmon Rillettes, a main of Braised Beef Cheek, and a Cheese Board for dessert. It was such a highlight! More specifically, it was some of the most tender beef I've ever eaten. The appetiser was nice and light, and instead of a normal dessert option, I opted for the cheese platter.

I followed it with a couple of glasses of whiskey before settling down for the night. About two hours before arriving in Chicago the lights were put up slowly and the crew brought around wet towels so we could freshen up before choosing some lunch from the light bite menu. Staff were very personable and attentive to our needs during the whole meal service- and of course during the flight in general.

ANA Business Class Amenities/Extras

I was really happy to see a range of bedding provided when I was ready to recline into a fully flat bed. All passengers received a mattress topper, pillow, duvet, pyjamas and amenity kit. Inside had the basics and Aveda moisturiser and lip balm, plus an ANA foldaway shopping bag, which made us wonder what it was for- the mystery was solved when we saw a Japanese traveller store all his belongings in the bag and hang it on the coat hook. It was a great way of keeping everything in one place.

I wore pyjamas on this flight too. I was delighted when the cabin crew showed me to the toilet and pulled down a little step to stand on while I was getting changed- this is so you don't get your feet wet/dirty on the regular floor. What a lovely little touch showing the Japanese culture!

ANA Business Class Final Thoughts

This flight was definitely the highlight of the four we took overall with that additional space, privacy doors and quietness of the mini cabin. Plus, I found sleeping more comfortable in The Room product. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them, plus food was very well presented, tasty and fresh. There was plenty of onboard entertainment and the use of Wifi was a great bonus! I wasn’t a fan of how guests are restricted to Japanese Menu or International Menu, with no mixing and matching. Also, I found it weird that you had to return the pyjamas to staff an hour before the flight landed on each flight.
